choose your tandem paragliding pilot wisely
There are many types of people in the world. Just as you may feel comfortable with one driver and constantly pushing your imaginary brake in the car with some one else driving it is very important that you choose your tandem pilot wisely.
A good tandem pilot will be confident, experienced but not a maverick dare devil. He/She will very carefully assess the conditions before flight and share these observations with you.
AND REMEMBER YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR OWN LIFE, IF YOU DON'T FEEL RIGHT OR THE TANDEM PILOT DOESN'T SEEM SOBER, THERE OR WHATEVER, YOU CAN ALWAYS CALL OFF THE FLIGHT. You can always choose another pilot, launch or day. Once you are airborn that choice is gone.
That said tandem paragliding has a very safe record and the majority of tandem pilots are very skilled and always considering your safety.
If you live in California, we recommend Patrick at WingEnvy.com , he is very professional and you will feel safe with him right away.
Here is an article from Turkey (link) where a tandem pilot risked his life and that of his client by flying in very low visibility fog. Luckily there was only broken bones. And this is a situation where the tandem pilot perhaps choose making more money over safety. If visibility is very low, you as the client can say "no, I want to wait for better conditions".
Paragliding is heavenly, enjoy it, be smart too!
